What is IDEXlab?

Appalachian State University's IDEXlab (Integrative Design Experience Laboratory) intends to redefine traditional pedagogical approaches to the study of the built environment in higher education.

A curriculum program built around the office/studio incorporates learning objectives from multiple courses in a collaborative, interdisciplinary project environment. Working in a professional office-like setting, we participate in the role of our concentration to plan, design, build, and commission real projects for real clients, while faculty serve as both educators and facilitators.
